A high oozed-resisting yeast strain separated from pollen and
honey by efforts in many years. The strain was complex induced
and cultivated, its high sugar resist ability reached to over
50%. Taking starch hydrolyzed sugar as material, the yield of
erythritol fermented in 100 cubic meter fermentor was over 180g/L
and the transformation was over 50%. At present, the erythritol
fermentation and extract technologies have been completed middle-scale
and productive experiments, the purity of products reached to
99%, the index of physical chemistry and health has been to the
export product requirements. The technology has been identified
by Shandong Science & Technology Department on Oct.28 2006.
It was considered by the idenfication that the technology laid
a foundation for industrial production of erythritol and reached
to the world level. As the erythritol has the properties of low
moisture, low caloricity, better crystallinity and cannot cause
decayed tooth, it is suitable to be applied in diabetics and food
industry as a new functional sweetener.
In chemistry, the erythrotol can be used in compound of alkyd
resin, polyester, polyether, paint and explosive as organic synthetic
intermediate.
In cosmetic, the erythritol can replace glycerine for preventing
cosmetic deteriorate because most of microbiology cannot utilize
erythritol.
In addition, the erythritol can be substrate to compose some rare
matter eg. it is used as material to produce erythrose. With the
development of technology, the erythritol utilization will keep
exploring.
As starch resource is abundant, the fermented erythritol has powerful
competition on the market. The price is about 45-50 thousand yuan/ton,
the cost of ton is of 18 thousand yuan. If 5000 ton /year of erythritol
is produced, the income will be 240 million yuan and the benefit
and tax will be 150 million yuan.
